Mental-model development (hereinafter, the Model) is the process of how human beings build their mental models based on their learning experiences, as well as a group of learning models and theories that conceptualize that process. The primary purpose for the research into the Model is to design learning experiences and/or sequence them.

A few theories of moral development are closely related to the Model.
