Revision as of 00:20, 6 May 2020

The Feedback module is a student-survey activity where you create and conduct surveys to collect feedback. It differs from Survey tool as it allows you to write your own questions, rather than choose from a list of pre-written questions and unlike the Quiz tool, you can create non-graded questions. You can use Feedback Activity to get feedback on any topic, gauge learner's opinions , predict certain improvements and suggestions.

Feedback Settings

Feedback module is disabled by default. To use, it must first be enabled by the Administrator by going to:

Administration > Site Administration > Plugins > Activity modules > Manage activities.

Administrator can also "Enable Feedback Block" by:

Administration > Site Administration > Plugins > Blocks > Manage blocks.

This way, Global Feedback activities can be set up on the front page and can be site wide, or mapped to specific courses. It is mostly helpful when you want to draw user's attention to the Feedback. On the course home page, click Turn editing on button, and in the appropriate week or topic section click Add an activity, select Feedback from the Activity chooser.

On the Adding a new Feedback page, click Expand all , then in the General section enter a Name and some Description indicating how the feedback will be used. Other settings can be expanded by clicking the links.

  • Availability - when users can complete the Feedback.
  • Question and Submission settings - whether submissions are anonymous or user names are recorded, to allow multiple submissions, enable notifications, auto-number questions.
  • Type an after Submission message or notification.
  • Common Module settings.
  • Restrict access / Activity completion where you can set completion only when the student completes the Feedback.
  • Map Feedback to courses from where Feedback block can then be added to desired courses and it provides a quick link to the Feedback activity.

Dependent questions

You can also create a question that will display only if the user answers another question in a certain way. This can be done a follows:

  • Set up your initial question and give it a name in the Label field.
  • Add a page break (on the Edit questions page, select Add a page break).
  • Create the question that depends on the value of the answer to the first question. Into the Dependence item field, select the first question, and in the Dependence value field enter the answer that must be selected for this second question to display.
  • On the "Edit questions" page, in the Preview section, you can move or delete any page break or captcha; move, edit or delete any information, label or question; or change the Required status of any question.

Feedback Response

After Student has submitted the Feedback, on the Overview tab, teacher will see the number of students who have responded so far. Here, teachers can Edit the questions and also Template tab allows them to save this particular survey's questions as a template for future use.
