Frequently asked questions
- Can I please get an explanation of this very page? What this discussion is about? I am not getting it.
- I encourage to use this very discussion page to ask questions that are related to WorldOpp fellow topics. -- Nizhnih (talk) 19:35, 20 October 2019 (UTC)
- Do you have any DREPD yet or I have to make by own?
- While asking this very question, you have used it -- you discovered mentioning of DREPD on the WorldOpp fellow wikipage, researched what it can mean to you, envisioned, and planned your question to me. Your actual message initiated a new discovery, so this iterative cycle starts again. -- Nizhnih (talk) 18:54, 23 October 2019 (UTC)
- Are there any tasks that will include calling people via phone or skype? Or video call?
- If you decide that you need to call, and get my approval, why not? -- Nizhnih (talk) 16:07, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
- Is there something more aside from the job description?
- I think so. If it were my choice, I would concentrate on the technology that we eventually need rather than on your job description. When you are patronizing some restaurant, do you care about cook's job description? Similarly, as the customer, I don't really care what you do until what you do is ethical, legal, and brings the results I am willing to pay for. -- Nizhnih (talk) 16:27, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
- Who will I report to?
- No one at the moment. For now, you are welcome to work on any deliverable and submit it directly to the customer, i.e. me. To make sure, I am financing this project, but no longer able to manage it. -- Nizhnih (talk) 10:46, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
- When I'm hired, I will do my very best to finish the tasks before the deadline.
- You don't need to "do [your] very best" -- I can easily help you with that -- if you don't establish any deadline, you will always meet it! -- Nizhnih (talk) 00:26, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
- Will there be any drawback of the Agile model?
- There might be. I don't know any other model to use for this particular project. -- Nizhnih (talk) 19:30, 20 October 2019 (UTC)
- What kind of software would you like to build as I need to know which team will be built for developing?
- I believe that your job description gives a fare introduction to software to be built. If neither that page nor the links it contains are helpful, you can try the CNM Cloud Project wikipage as your alternative starting point. With regard to the team, the team of developers is fully staffed at the moment. We need more coordinators and, most likely, we will need some vendors when we have requirements to what they need to do. -- Nizhnih (talk) 19:35, 20 October 2019 (UTC)
- To get a better explanation for user stories, does it means in a simple words (its the customer point of view for the changes needs to be done to enhance the system or part of it)?
- The most basic explanation is posted at the User story wikipage. If it is not enough, please feel free research the World Wide Web and update our wikipage, so your successors would have less work to do. -- Nizhnih (talk) 19:35, 20 October 2019 (UTC)
- Will I be creating my own idea? Or just nurturing the software that you already have?
- Your own idea should be communicated with the customer, myself at the moment, in order to be approved. Then, it becomes our idea to be further moved to our product backlog. -- Nizhnih (talk) 10:46, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
- Amongst all the deliverables, will I be handling all of it? Or will there be a team that would help me with this?
- I believe that you will always have a chance to pick what deliverable you would like to work on until all the deliverables are completely operational. -- Nizhnih (talk) 10:46, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
Training FAQ
- I would like to ask about the on-the-job training, would there be any modules or procedures given for the training? How many hours or days would it take before I can start working?
- Currently, EmployableU Concepts has some texts, graphics, and about 50 videos. All the modules of Educaship Fellowship have outlines, texts, and graphics. However, all of those are still under development. Actually, I am hiring coordinators like you to further develop it. At the moment, there is no notion of training first, work second. On-the-job training is not before-the-job one. You must start working first, initially as a tester asking good questions, and get trained, based on your performance, second. -- Nizhnih (talk) 00:27, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
- When I can start my training to learn more details?
- You have already started since you asked this question. -- Nizhnih (talk) 19:04, 23 October 2019 (UTC)
- Where and how I will be trained up? Means skype or any other platform?
- How do you want it? -- Nizhnih (talk) 19:04, 23 October 2019 (UTC)
Compensation FAQ
- How my work will be counted?
- Please check the WorldOpp fellow#Financial procedures section. -- Nizhnih (talk) 1:43, 26 February 2020 (UTC)
User stories (ungroomed)
- As someone who may consider becoming a WorldOpp fellow, I need to know where to start and how long it will take to get onboard.
Proposals
After a thorough analysis, here are some of our questions and suggestions . Keeping up the overall project, consumers and stakeholder's concerns, we also have put forward specific considerations what a WorldOpp fellow may have especially while joining .
1) Position overview – Coordinator`s role. > The coordinators role is broad; it would be narrowed down to enable aspirants understand exactly their role as the coordinator. And also coordinators involvement in projects such as account manager, accountant, business administrator, business analyst, business buyer, configuration manager, content manager, contracts administrator owner, project manager etcetera be clearly stated
> Coordinators are open to perform in one or more of the roles mentioned in Position Overview. There must be corresponding Hard skills required for these roles such as UX Designer, Business Analyst etc. Such requirements should be highlighted and also how interested candidates can report the employer / customer like in form of their academic or educational credentials.
2) Educational Credential > In the event the Friends of CNM takes a coordinator to a college or an educational institution -- concerns such as the following to be addressed in the coordinator's page. For example; what outcome is expected? what is the duration? How would this academic qualification benefit the coordinator in the project? Will this qualification guarantee a job placement? Also how will this qualification impact on the coordinators hourly rate?
3) Financial procedures -> Billable Items: Coordinators are paid on weekly basis, when a Sprint is complete (Shippable) and billing the customer closes the Sprint. Also duration of a Sprint is specified as one week. What if it not gets completed in that time ? Is a Coordinator still eligible to be paid ? Or are they open to small sprint releases? What will be the otherwise cases?
4) Moreover, for one week of a Sprint, Is the altogether duration of Sprint Zero+ Shippable Sprint + Billable Sprint = one week ? It should be specified. Also a new Coordinator may face challenges in completing all these phases in a week and hustle which may compromise the quality of their work. How are these cases dealt? Also, "quality, not quantity " should be encouraged, especially for newbies.
5) In case a Coordinator wants to quit the job, are they provided with an employment or experience document, verifying that they have worked with CNM / Friends of CNM ? If this policy exists, necessary details should be a part of this page. This may also be applicable in case when Coordinator may need to add their job in their professional experience's profile.
6) Pictorial representations such as hierarchies and diagrams for specific procedures can be added to the wiki page. Apart from text, it would be easy for the candidates to understand, for example for DREPD cycle.
7) For PBIs (which Coordinators can claim), there are sets of Backlogs on this page. Is it the complete list of PBIs available for the Coordinator to work on for now? If not, where is the complete Product backlog listed (under coordinator's work domain).
8) A universal contract agreement that can be applied by all customers and coordinators. The contract agreement would be between a project coordinator and a client or customer that would protect both interests of the customer and the developer/coordinator.
9)After orientation, the path a coordinator may choose to take be clearly stated. Or provision of directions.
10) . Promote coordinators working together for instance; Weekly standups for new coordinators as well as an opportunity to have two coordinators work on the same project or still have a space where new coordinators can join, ask questions and find support. Not necessarily from the customer but from other coordinators or volunteers. And also, teamwork is highly fruitful in Agile.
11) Get certified to be a Certified CNM Cyber User: After completion of this course. Users can go to a 'Get certificate' section on CNM Cert where they will be required to add their details which will be used to develop certificate that is later on emailed the participant's email address
12) CNM Agile can have formats for certain reports such as Sprint Retrospective, Coordinators report etc and specific guidelines to draft them. This can be a part of Placement course or this page. I would like to mention that I (Mariam) faced some problems while presenting my first report and then I felt the need of having a format and guidelines for reports.
