Transformational leader is a leader who inspires his or her followers to transcend their own self-interests and who is capable of having a profound and extraordinary effect on followers.

According to Management by Robbins and Coulter (14th edition),
- Transformational leader. A leader who stimulates and inspires (transforms) followers to achieve extraordinary outcomes.
