A WorldOpp roundtable (hereinafter, the Meeting) is a meeting of Friends Of CNM (hereinafter, the Group) organized by one or more WorldOpp event hosts in order to discuss any challenges that the Group in general and its WorldOpp program in particular faces.


Organizational details

Timing

The Meetings shall start at 11am EST, which is 6pm Kenya time and so on. The WorldOpp event host who organizes the particular Meeting is supposed to select any available day on the calendar of the Tech Events for Managers and Entrepreneurs meetup group. Available in the previous sentence means any day free of other events.

Calendar

When it is launched, worldopp.org will serve as the official calendar for the Meetings. The calendar of Tech Events for Managers and Entrepreneurs can be used temporarily as the main calendar.

Participants

Newbies

Any individual including employment candidates (primarily residing in Kenya), aspiring volunteers (primarily residing in the Washington DC metro area), contractors, and partners for Friends Of CNM who is interested in becoming a staffer one day.

Agenda

Typical agenda

By default, any Meeting consists of two parts:

  • Q&A session for new attendees related to the introductory presentation of Friends Of CNM;
  • If there is a room, the session extends to any question related to WorldOpp development.

  • One by one, those participants who would like to speak up, describe the challenges that the Group faces. The other participants may or may not ask questions and/or provide the speakers with their feedback.
  • The sequence of the speakers is defined by the agenda created in advance on the first-come-first-served basis. If the time allows, those speakers who are not on the official agenda are welcome to present.

All of the presentations are pre-recorded and supposed to be viewed by the attendees before they arrive.

Specific agenda

The specific agenda is proposed by future participants, Friends Of CNM DevOps Administrator, and/or another event host using this CNM Wiki and approved by Friends Of CNM DevOps Administrator and/or another event host in advance.

Format

The Meetings are usually organized simultaneously onsite to accommodate those who needs face-to-face interactions and online to accommodate those attendees who choose to participate remotely.

Onsite

The Meetings shall usually be scheduled to occur in either:
  1. The cafeteria of McLean Bible Church in Vienna, Virginia;
  2. Any other public space such as libraries, restaurants, parks, etc.
By default, the announcements should be published at Tech Events for Managers and Entrepreneurs. They can also be published at the Career Network Ministry meetup group. The cut-off RSVP shall be set at about 24 hours prior to the event and, if no member RSVPed, the onsite portion of the Meeting shall be cancelled.

Online

The Meetings shall usually be broadcasted via some web conferencing system. The announcements shall usually be published at http://worldopp.org when such an opportunity is technically available. Until it is, Tech Events for Managers and Entrepreneurs can be temporarily used. If no new attendee RSVPed, the first and final parts of the Meeting shall be cancelled.

Requirements

Epic

Although the Meetings shall address needs of several categories such as skill seekers, job seekers, and/or income seekers, the main challenge to be solved is as follows. On the one side, Gary Ihar cannot find qualified employees for remote positions such as Friends Of CNM DevOps, Outreach, and Event Administrators. On another side, many would like to be hired, but they are not able to start working. The Meetings should primarily serve as a platform to discuss how to face this challenge. After all positions are filled in, the topic will shift to WorldOpp development, and, later, to the WorldOpp programme.

User stories

  • Any participant (a newbie, team member, and/or team lead) needs to:
    1. Know when the Meetings occur and how the interested individual can participate in those;
    2. Be introduced to as much information as possible prior to the Meeting the interested individual decides to participate in;
    3. Ask questions and get answers first-hand;
    4. Review minutes and other documents if the interested individual misses the Meeting.
  • Any staffer (a team member, and/or team lead) needs to:
    1. Discuss any issues with my projects;
    2. Contribute to solutions for those projects that have been discussed.
  • The team lead needs to:
    1. Know the obstacles the team faces in order to work on those;
    2. Know the general progress on the projects in order to report it.
