Change control practice (hereinafter, the Practice) is the practice to ensure that risks are properly assessed, authorize changes to proceed and manage a change schedule in order to maximize the number of successful service and product changes. The Practice relates to [[]], [[]], and service management. This Practice is a part of the ITIL practices.

According to the ITIL Foundation 4e by Axelos,

Change control practice. The practice of ensuring that risks are properly assessed, authorizing changes to proceed and managing a change schedule in order to maximize the number of successful service and product changes.
