Supplier management practice (hereinafter, the Practice) is the practice to ensure that an organization's suppliers and their performance levels are managed appropriately to support the provision of seamless quality products and services. The Practice relates to supplier and service management. This Practice is a part of the ITIL practices.


Definitions

According to the ITIL Foundation 4e by Axelos,

Supplier management practice. The practice of ensuring that an organization's suppliers and their performance levels are managed appropriately to support the provision of seamless quality products and services.

Purpose

The purpose of the supplier management practice is to ensure the organization's suppliers and their performance are managed appropriately to support the provision of seamless, quality products, services and components.

Parts

This Practice can include creating closes, more collaborative relationships with key suppliers to uncover and realize new value and reduce risk of failure.
