Workaround is an immediate and temporary response to an issue, for which a prior response had not been planned or was not effective. See also risk mitigation.

Workaround. An immediate and temporary response to an issue, for which a prior response had not been planned or was not effective. See also risk mitigation.

According to the ITIL Foundation 4e by Axelos,

Workaround. A solution that reduces or eliminates the impact of an incident or problem for which a full resolution is not yet available. Some workarounds reduce the likelihood of incidents.
