Brainstorming is an idea-generation process that specifically encourages any and all alternatives while withholding any criticism of those alternatives.

Brainstorming. An idea-generation process that specifically encourages any and all alternatives while withholding any criticism of those alternatives.

According to the BABOK Guide (3rd edition),

Brainstorming. A team activity that seeks to produce a broad or diverse set of options through the rapid and uncritical generation of ideas.

According to the HRBoK Guide,

Brainstorming. A process for producing new ideas and solutions. A method in which individuals or groups spontaneously find solutions to a problem.
