Братские школы (также известны как греческие школы; здесь и далее по тексту -- Школы) -- общественная образовательная инициатива, берущая начало в конце 16-го века на территориях сегодняшней Беларуси, Литвы и Украины. Изначально учебные заведения, Школы, организовывались при братствах, которые представляли собой общественные организации православных мещан. Целью первых Школ было противостояние продвижению католических (обычно, иезуитских) и протестантских учебных заведений. Основное различие состояло в изучаемых языках. В то время как католическое образование концентрировалось на латыни и польском языке, Школы делали акцент на старо-русский и греческий.
