A course forum is a learning activity in which course participants are supposed to hold conversations like Q&A sessions or discussions on particular topics in the form of posted messages.

Introduce Yourself!
Hello (English), Hola! (Spanish), Hallo (German), 今日は (Japanese) and Здравствуйте! (Russian).
No matter what language you speak, it is always good to start off by welcoming each other to the class.
So use this forum to post your biography (mine is posted already). Tell us all a little about yourself. Share some of your work experience, maybe some family information, and be sure to tell us your hobbies. If you are so inclined… tell us something you have done that perhaps you think no one else has done. For example, last October I went to Madrid to teach. But when I was done, I took the train to Gibraltar, Spain, a ferry to Tangiers (Africa) and rode a camel. Yep, I went all the way to Africa… just to ride a camel for 10 minutes. It had to be done! What is your story?
Discussion Forum Expectations
- Your initial post should be submitted by 11:59pm on Thursday of each week and be at least 2-3 paragraphs in length.
- You should then respond to at least two of your classmates' postings by 11:59pm on Sunday of each week with a meaningful and substantive response.
- Your replies should build on the concept discussed, offer a question to consider, or add a differing perspective, etc. Rather than responding with just, "Good post," explain why the post is "good" (why it is important, useful, insightful, etc.). Or, if you disagree, respectfully share your alternative perspective. Just saying "I agree" or "Good idea" is not sufficient.
Ask The Professor
HELP! This is the place to ask for help on those questions that you just can’t seem to find answer too. This is an open forum for you to ask anything and everything. If you forgot where to find the late policy… just ask. If you can’t seem to locate the team project rubric… just ask. And if you can’t find your car keys… just ask (although I will not be able to help on that one!).
This is also a place where you can find answers to some questions you might not of even know you had… yet. By checking in here a couple times a week you might find a question asked by a peer that you would like to know also. I do try and keep my responses to your questions appropriate for everyone, so if the question you have is more personal in nature, you might find me responding in an email. But if I do, I will note it in your posting.
So fire away, ask what you wish, I'll get you the correct ASAP.
Student Lounge
This is the Starbucks of the class… minus the latte. Or, if you are on a job, think of it as the water cooler. Use this forum to unwind and chat with your peers. You can learn lots from your peers in class, and it always doesn’t have to be on a topic in the class. Maybe you see another NY Giants fan in the class bios. Use this forum to discuss the week game. Maybe you see a peer is from your hometown. Use this forum to find out if anything has changed since you left. There really is not "wrong' posting in this forum.
Usually I only monitor this area, but I reserve the right to chime in if the topic turns to something I am passionate about… like Cincinnati Reds Baseball or World Cup Soccer!
