OBS Studio
OBS Studio (alternatively known as Open Broadcaster Software and its acronym, OBS) is open-source screen-recording and live-streaming software. Can be integrated with AVideo.
To record on OBS Studio:
- If OBS Studio has not yet been installed on your computer, the following are steps you need to perform;
- Open your browser, and visit the OBS Studio homepage;
- Select the OBS Software instance that the operating system on your computer supports, i.e. Windows, macOS, or Linux from the home page and download will begin automatically;
- Open the downloaded file once it has completed and install;
- start the meeting as moderator in Educaship Jitsi;
- Open OBS Studio on your computer and click the plus sign in the "Sources" section;
- Select "Window Capture";
- Click "Create New", and name the window you are about to capture;
- Press the "Ok" button, a "Properties Window" will appear, press "Ok" once again on the properties window;
- Press the "Start Recording" button in the Controls section, and minimize OBS Studio window to proceed with the meeting;
- Click the OBS Studio icon on your computer task bar to maximize OBS Studio window if you want to close the meeting;
- Press the "Stop Recording" button in the Controls section, the recording is automatically saved on your computer. You can now close the meeting in Educaship Jitsi.
Below are steps to follow when recording an event on OBS Studio:
- After downloading OBS studio in your computer (Link to download:https://obsproject.com/) follow these steps;
- 1. Start the meeting as a moderator in CNM Jitsi:
- After starting the meeting, minimize the browser screen to locate and launch OBS Studio.
- 2. Open OBS Studio and add a source:
- Launch OBS Studio on your computer.
- After launching OBS Studio, maximize your web browser that you are using for CNM Jitsi. (This step is crucial to enable you to select it as the window being captured.)
- Locate OBS Studio in the task bar of you computer and maximize it as well.
- In OBS Studio, in the "Sources" section, locate and click on the plus sign (+) to add a new source.
- 3. Select "Window Capture":
- Choose "Window Capture" from the available options.
- 4. Create a New Window Capture:
- Click on "Create New" and give a name to the window you are about to capture. This name will help you identify the recording source.
- 5. Configure Window Capture Properties:
- Click "OK," and a "Properties Window" will appear.
- In the properties window, click "OK" once again to confirm your selection.
- 6. Start Recording in OBS Studio:
- In the "Controls" section of OBS Studio, you'll find a "Start Recording" button. Click this button to begin recording.
- 7. Minimize OBS Studio:
- Minimize the OBS Studio window to allow you to focus on the meeting in CNM Jitsi. Your recording will continue in the background.
- 8. Stop Recording in OBS Studio:
- When you're ready to stop recording, return to OBS Studio.
- In the "Controls" section, locate the "Stop Recording" button. Click this button to end the recording.
- 9. Save the Recording:
- The recorded meeting is automatically saved on your computer. You can find it in the location you specified during the initial setup of OBS Studio. If left unchanged, the video will be saved in the "Videos" folder located under "This PC."
- 10. Close the Meeting in CNM Jitsi:
- After stopping the recording, you can now close the meeting in CNM Jitsi.
