Social responsibility is business' intention, beyond its legal and economic obligations, to do the right things and act in ways that are good for society.

Social responsibility. A business' intention, beyond its legal and economic obligations, to do the right things and act in ways that are good for society.

According to the Strategic Management by David and David (15th edition),

Social responsibility. Refers to actions an organization takes beyond what is legally required to protect or enhance the well-being of living things

According to the HRBoK Guide,

Social responsibility. An ethical theory that guides organizations to consider the welfare of society. An organization's voluntary obligation toward the good of the environment in which it operates.
