Mental model is one's understanding of a system or a concept that integrates several parts. The one can be either an individual, a group of people, or, in a case of machine learning, a computer. Several theories of mental-model development suggest the ways how human beings develop their Models.
Definitions
According to Organizational Behavior by Robbins and Judge (17th edition),
- Mental model. Team members' knowledge and beliefs about how the work gets done by the team.
According to the FAA AC 120-72,
- Mental model. A depiction of a system in a person's mind, i.e. how a person thinks a system is put together and how it works.
