What the Middleware Is (hereinafter, the Lectio) is the lesson part of the CNM Cloud Features lesson that introduces its participants to CNM Cloud. This lesson belongs to the Introduction to CNM Cloud session of the CNM Cyber Orientation.
Content
The successor predecessor lectio is How Apps Are Built.
Key terms
- WorldOpp Federated Servers. The computing server that hosts the software applications that WorldOpp Middleware powers. The CNM Next Servers is one of the CNM Cloud Foundation.

- If we imagine that CNM apps are people and the CNM Cloud Foundation are a combination of their homes, we may treat WorldOpp Middleware as their mail delivery, local police, Internet broadband, public transportation, parking lots, town hall, and other municipal services that are available for all the residents.
- WorldOpp Middleware's systems provide all CNM apps with federated services. These services particularly feature the federated database and user management system.
- The federated database stores most important data from different CNM apps, so it can be accessed in one place rather than in every CNM app.
- The user management system handles all the authentications and authorizations. In our imaginary town, the user management system would combine two entities: (a) the ID-issuing authority and (b) ID policing reinforcement.
- CNM Cabin is the user interface (UI) that allows end-users like you to access the Middleware.
- The Middleware uses Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) to communicate user data to the Cloud's apps. The core of the Middleware is custom-written specifically for CNM Cloud.
CNM Cloud SSO is the successor lectio.
