In the United States, professional license (hereinafter, the License) is a designation earned by a person from a state agency that allows this person to exercise some occupation. The Licenses usually require the university title for that profession.

Every state identifies what occupations are licensed in that state. These occupations may include accounting, architecture, bar (i.e. legal), engineering, medical, nursing, or certified technician. The employer must verify such a License while hiring to these occupations.
