DNS stands for Domain Name System; it describes a system of hostnames, subdomains, etc. In the World Wide Web, CNMCyber is presented by the CNMCyber.com hostname.
Hostnames, which are also called domain names, are created as human-friendly locators of websites in the World Wide Web. When you type any domain name in the web browser to request some website, the browser requests DNS servers to locate the IP address of that website. IP adresses or Internet protocol addresses consist of numbers and symbols. They are inconvenient for human end-users, but the only way for the technology to locate the resource you look for. DNS emerged to allow human beings to bypass IP addresses.
IP address is different from web address, which is technically called URL or Uniform Resource Locator. URL consists of the protocol name such as in https://, subdomains, hostname, and the path. You can find URL in the address bar of your web browser.
Various systems of CNMCyber are available at subdomains such as cabin.cnmcyber.com for CNM Cabin, cert.cnmcyber.com for CNM Cert, social.cnmcyber.com for CNMCyber.com, tube.cnmcyber.com for CNM Tube, or wiki.cnmcyber.com for CNM Wiki.
The CNM Next Apps, which are those versions of CNM apps that are installed on the CNM Lab Farm, feature the .next. field added to their hostnames such as cert.next.cnmcyber.com and social.next.cnmcyber.com.
Similarly, the CNM HandsOn Apps, which are those versions of CNM apps that are installed on the CNM HandsOn Farm, feature the .handson. field added to their hostnames such as tube.handson.cnmcyber.com and wiki.handson.cnmcyber.com.
To display any webpage, one needs to type its URL into the address bar of web browser. The bar is always located on the top of the page. It is often confused with an input field of web search engine. If you cannot locate the bar, most likely, you use a mobile app.
Similarly to whole CNMCyber, its DNS is a living endeavor as well.
