What the Foundation Is (hereinafter, the Lectio) is the lesson part of the Soft CNM Cloud Uses lesson that introduces its participants to CNM Cloud. This lesson belongs to the Introduction to CNM Cloud session of the CNM Cyber Orientation.

Content

The successor predecessor lectio is Structure of CNM Cloud.

Key terms

CNM Cloud Foundation. The combination of computing servers that host CNM Cloud, as well as those parts of the cloud that are provisioned to run serverless systems.

If we compare CNM apps with people, we may compare the CNM Cloud Foundation with their home. The cloud itself would serve as its roof and walls, web servers would serve as the mailbox, operating systems would be its electricity, programming language support would be its water, and database management systems would be its storage. The CNM Cloud Foundation provides functionality for CNM apps and WorldOpp Middleware.
The computing servers are the core of CNM Cloud Foundation. In information technology, a computing server is any resource that provides functionality for software applications.
All Foundation's computing servers are grouped in clusters; there are four types of clusters of servers.
First, the WorldOpp Federated Servers hosts WorldOpp Middleware and all software applications that this middleware powers. Most notably, the Federated Server hosts CNM Cabin.
Second, the CNM HandsOn Apps such as WikiHandsOn, TubeHandsOn, and MailHandsOn are installed on the CNM HandsOn Servers. This server is used for the hands-on training of CNM Cyber service administrators.
Third, the CNM Next Apps such as WikiNext, TubeNext, and MailNext are installed on the CNM Next Servers. This server is used for the experiential learning of CNM Cloud administrators. Those CNM apps that have no distinguished names, are installed there.
Last, but not least, all the other CNM apps are installed on the CNM Fellow Servers. They include CNM Cert, Lab, Page, Tube, Wiki, and all the apps of the CNM Action Suite.

What the Middleware Is is the successor lectio.
